Guang Zhang obtained his Ph. D. from the University
of Toronto in atmospheric physics. He is currently a member of the Center for Atmospheric Sciences at Scripps.
His main research interest is in developing physically-based convection parameterization scheme in GCMs.
Postdoctoral Research Position Available (New)
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position in the Climate, Atmospheric Science, Physical Oceanography Division of Scripps Institution of Oceanography. The research will be in the areas of convection parameterization and interaction of convection, clouds and climate. Applicants with a Ph.D. in atmospheric science or meteorology are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in NCAR CAM3 and CCSM3, analyzing cloud-resolving model output, developing or testing convection and cloud parameterizations. Experience in observational analysis using data from satellites and field experiments is also a plus. Other relevant research experience includes studies on MJO, ENSO and ITCZ. Salary is commensurate with qualification and experience, and is based on University of California salary scales.
